Who: Hideaki Kobayakawa, Scarlet Noire, and you!
What: The grand opening of Ujou-nabe Magu Magu Delight!
Where: Seagull Village, at a tiny little shop only recently done up and painted over in all red and black.
When: The entire day of July 30th.

[The advertising hasn't been the greatest, but Hideaki's not exaaactly doing this for super profit. Anyway, he figures that having quality food will get him all the customers he'd need, right? And he even has a really cool employee to help with customer-wrangling and anything he couldn't quite do, so it'll all be fine, right?

If anyone's been in either Seagull Village or Pelican Town over the past day or two, though...They might have seen the fliers plastered all over. And if not, well...It's hard to miss now. Everyone gets one in the snail mail the day before the grand opening! (And just pretend that the fliers have the address of the destination on the back, I've been fighting with GIMP for hours now.) The point is that Hideaki's done a little more work than he might for literally any other cause, because this is his dream!

And when the day comes...He's standing out of the front of his little shop, in full armour to paint a memorable figure and match his colour scheme. His shrill voice isn't easy to miss if you're at all in the village, and he's handing out menus to anyone who walks past. To be fair to how obnoxious he is...The smell of his stocks and various ingredients being cooked is pretty damn good. Hideaki isn't smart or very likeable, but damn if that boy doesn't know how to cook. If the voice is too much, however, he does have to duck back inside after a little while and focus on prepping more ingredients. Hey, maybe you'll get to deal with Scarlet instead!  She's infinitely preferable to talk to than a shrieking teenager, really. Looks better in reds, too.

Thankfully, there's also a table full of small bowls, and those bowls are full of oden samples to try and lure in the hungry masses! Feel free to have a mouthful (for that's all the samples add up to), come inside and take a seat, or just bring your friends along to see what the fuss is about.

[ For the moment, she doesn't have much of an idea of what to grow other than flowers, maybe a few crops here and there, but that on its own is still too vague. If she asks everyone else, maybe that'll give her an idea! ]

Bit of a weird question I guess, but what would you say is your favorite flower? It doesn't have to be a flower either. Any plant will do. [ She pauses, suddenly considering something. ] As long as it isn't poisonous, I guess.

[ Last thing she needs is to grow poison ivy or something. She can already spot some of that on a tree not far away. ]

[action]

[ Like many new farmers, Aerith's first task is to take to her field and clean it up. It's not something she'd complain about aloud, but the chore is still, well, just that. A chore. She'd rather not do it at all, especially with all the rocks littering the way. It seems like every time she turns around, there's another rock! Or a twig.

Or, in the case of her newest find, an entire downed log. Good lord, how long has that been there?

Yeah, she'll definitely have to get some help from one of her neighbors. But that's not so much of a problem! If anything, she welcomes the temporary reprieve and takes to the road back to town to see if she can catch the attention of a passerby. ]

Hey there, would you mind helping me out a bit at my lot? I don't have much to pay you with for the moment, but I can make you tea or something like that.

[It’s morning. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and there are two new arrivals around town who seem convinced that something very suspicious is going on here. Dressed in what can only be described as tactical gear, they’re clearly some kind of military, and appear to be acting accordingly. In a situation like this, the best course of action is obviously to fall back on instinct in an attempt to get to the bottom of whatever this is supposed to be. For these two, that means proceeding with caution.

Clearly there’s nothing questionable about two men carrying big guns through farms and fields, speaking to each other quietly as if to keep from being overheard. Keeping together, never straying far from the other, or lingering too long in a single area. Not at all questionable, or scary, or yeah no what are these two idiots doing.

They’re doing recon, of course! And they’re fairly thorough about it, methodically searching, poking around, overturning anything that looks questionable and possibly pointing guns at it. Was that thing yours? Sorry, it’s being inspected now. Do you live in this house? No problem, they’re just going to check around back. See or experience anything strange during your stay? No? Are you sure?

Or maybe you just come across them while going about your business. They’re obviously friendly with each other, even if they’re regarding everything else with some degree of wariness. It seems like a great idea to approach, if only to ask what the heck they think they’re doing.

[It is almost Horatio's birthday. Generally speaking, that doesn't mean much. Birthdays have always been an odd mixed bag--meaningless until the next one was twelve, and now simply a grim reminder that there were still years of fear to go. What's been... nice? comforting? reassuring? about the idea now is that it will feel like the flip of a switch.

A month ago, Horatio had been certain he wouldn't live to see his next birthday. Now--if, admittedly, in the oddity of a pocket of space-time that only half-counted--he would.

And generally speaking, that's a good thing. More specifically speaking, it's made Horatio's panic jump from zero to sixty upon his first encounter with something that felt too much like home to continue the good 'going to make it' feeling. So, instead of finishing up his master plan to get himself an apple tree today, Horatio is shutting himself up in his house and texting out to the rest of Starhue.

Does anyone know how to get rid of hornets?
Quickly and efficiently and without getting stung.
They might not be hornets but they sounded like hornets.
Quite a few, although I did not count them.
-HH

[If anyone actually drops by, unlike most days, Horatio will absolutely not be out in his fields or scrambling through his trees. Visitors will have to let themselves up to his door and bang on it to get him to unbarricade himself from the relatively bee-free safety of his house.

The outside chance that they're absolutely just nice, normal honeybees hasn't actually entered his mind, but that's panic for you.

So you want to be a farmer? Here's the deal. Farming's stupid easy. First thing you gotta do, is you gotta--

[ streeeetch ] You gotta get yourself all nice and limber for the farming. [ crossing one arm over a shoulder, streeetch, doing the opposite. ] The farming that we were all interrupted in the multiverse to do. Specifically, coming here for farming, when my best friends are back home and this is supposed to be a place that reunites best friends or whatever.

Thanks, Marge, you're one of a kind.

Anyway, you take some seeds. [ Throws them over his shoulder. ] -- oop.

[ He turns and blasts the seeds to grow into an impressive beanstalk, sprouting weird vegetables that only wizardry would make. ]

And that's my TED talk on farming where is the bus to the Moon.

LET'S PARTY!
premise | rules | taken | pick-up

A. Arrivals and Much More

You’re here because you were dropped somewhere that tried sending you home, or you're someone with a call to the heart to explore the vast universe. The buses run at odd schedules, so please pardon any interruptions! I hope you fellas make yourselves at home, here!

[ Marjorie’s whole speech rings through your ears as you begin to explore the area. It seems a few people who arrived on the TDM have already been here for a week, but you’re just a newcomer. So where are you when this all went down? Are you trying to get back on a bus that’ll take you home, or…?

B. Home Sweet Home

[ The dust has settled on the bus ride here, and you can’t help but notice that your farmland… well, it’s a mess. Rocks and grass everywhere, no matter which layout you were set with. You were given a set of tools, and the message that this land is yours to shape or change or build on no matter what you want, so long as it’s yours. The little crate by the edge of the house is what will hold your bounties from farming, collected nightly with money delivered to your mailbox the following day, like some kind of Produce Fairy visited.

The house is in alright shape. It’s not brilliant, but it has a kitchen, a bathroom, and a studio bedroom where all your belongings can be. It’s wide enough to accommodate several things until you upgrade it.

Sometimes you see a stray dog or cat at the edge of your property. Do you adopt it?

Anyway, it’s time to make what you will of your farm. ]

The Last Day Of
The Stardrop Celebration!

FESTIVAL PLAYLIST

[ Down a hill a little ways from Pelican Town is a remarkable festival set-up! Several attractions and vendors line the streets where everything is going down. Where will you go? ]

C. Food Stalls

[ Surrounding the entire property are dozens of food stalls, from all around the universe. Marjorie bussed in caterers from all around with a healthy sum of gold, and they’re happy to sell their wares in this strange place tonight. Where you might find octopus balls, you’ll also find kraken balls. Where you might find corndogs, you’ll find dogs selling corn.

It’s a veritable buffet! And the gold you’ve started with is more than enough to go shopping for food. Have fun! ]

D. Games

[ All manners of Carnival Games are set up! From throwing a baseball at bottles to catching goldfish with a paper net, everything you can dream of is here. There are even some unorthodox games, like dance-offs, karaoke, and a little bit of everything. Apparently, the NPC couldn’t choose who to go with what. It definitely makes for a big festival.

In addition to the above, there’s water gun races, squeaky duck ponds, skee-ball, target shooting, test your strength with a hammer, pitching speed, shooting hoops… and more! ]

E. Three-legged Race

[ You didn’t think this festival was going to go by without tomfoolery, did you? For the prize of 1,000 Gold, you can rally up a partner and get tied to them by the ankle, participating in a no-rules no-bars-held race. The winners will be randomized! But the real gift is going to be the fact that the ties around your ankles? Aren’t coming undone. You’re going to have to be tied together until 11 PM! ]

F. Fireworks

[ Errant magic and mishaps aside, you have to admit, the fireworks show at the end of it all is really something. Marjorie hired a pony for them, and the lights are as ethereal as they are non-traditional. It’s a good moment to snuggle up to someone or enjoy company with a new friend. ]

G. Wildcard

[ Exactly what it says! Make your own prompt. ]
