[At this point, people have probably seen a few miqo'te by now. At first, Irhya keeps her face hidden, but seems to have a change of heart shortly thereafter, brushing some hair out of her face as she adjusts the frame. For coming from a world that is so technologically limited in the face of -- this... she sure has adapted quickly.
There is something apprehensive about the way her eyes dart back and forth, about the initial pause before she starts speaking, but it's easily forgettable once she finds her stride.]
Let me just preface this by saying that where I'm from, animal husbandry is forbidden. Fear of upsetting the forest and all that... though frankly I've always thought the Elementals need to stop being such temperamental little shites in the first place. Anyway, dairy is understandably scarce because of it, and imports are scarce as well as prohibitively expensive, so most of the populace lives on grown produce and wild game.
Which brings me to my problem. I have no interest in playing around in the dirt, but I suppose raising animals doesn't sound all that bad. Especially when I, personally, have a lot more use for wool and milk than most things that come from plants. But I also don't know the first damn thing about it.
[After she confesses, the top half of a sheep becomes visible at the bottom of the frame, and she leans down a little to stroke it. There also seems to be something black and furry skulking about on a hay bale behind her; a cat, most likely.]
So! I normally don't do this, but I would like to propose a trade. If there's anyone willing to help me with my little problem -- showing me the basics, hanging around to lend a hand, whatever works -- I can probably craft a few things in return. Tools, clothing, medicines... actually, it's probably easier just to pitch what you need from me and I'll decide case-by-case. I'm not yet familiar with what kinds of materials might be available here, but I think we can make something work out, right?
Just one rule: if you end up getting indecisive on me, I'm defaulting to cooking.
[She makes as if to end the recording, but hesitates, struck with a second thought.]
Oh, and one more thing. If anyone here happens to be a native to Eorzea, I have a few questions for you.

At the moment, though, sitting on my hands and waiting isn't really an option, so...

[The blunt enunciation says it all; that is way more troublesome than she was anticipating. Damn it.]
So, wait, I have to play cow matchmaker before I do anything with it? Ah, but how silly of me to assume I wouldn't have to do things the hard way...

...Ah. As I thought.
[That seems to imply a little more than simply agreement with "not from the same shard", however.]
There is something I have been thinking about for a while now, but I need more information to figure out where the threads all meet. Let me start by asking: are you a Warrior of Light? If not, in what way are you connected?

Is this your first time being offworld?

[Flora herself was more of a plants expert than an animal one. Though she has raised fairy animals before. That's a whole different thing and a thing she brought to earth back in her home.]
I do hope you find someone, though I would also like to learn how to take care of animals better too myself.

So after fiddling around with this device he manages to send an eager reply back.]
I am. I am from Eorzea! And I am quite glad to find another in return. It makes this strange new place quite a bit warmer... and it's quite warm already!
[The heat? It's a lot for someone surrounded by ice and snow each and every day.]
I'm from Ishgard but I mostly reside in Coerthas where I look after Camp Dragonhead. We're known for our frigid hospitality so I would not blame you for thinking rather... unkindly, I suppose? But I am a great supporter of the adventurers that come through. Many of which have been wonderful allies to my cause and for that I am grateful. Being from another corner of the world as most other Eorzeans perhaps I msy be useful in your inquiries?

By the time she tries again, she is far more collected. It is a front, but it should suffice for... well, a total stranger.]
I appreciate the forthright response, but I actually know who you are quite well. Loyal and kind Lord Haurchefant, willing to lend blade and shield for your country... and indeed, those you hold dear.
[She pauses. Her facade is icy and perfect; not a splinter to be found, even when she looks up to smile at him apologetically. It's so icy, in fact, that it takes on a forced quality.]
Forgive me, maybe that's a bit too much to start with? This sort of thing has happened before, so maybe I'm just too used to it...

And yet... the look she gives him is cold. There is a smile, yes, but... well, coming from Ishgard and all the nobility you can pick up fake compliments and forced smiles quite well. And hers gives him reason for the jubilation to pass and he hesitates in a response.]
Surely there is nothing to forgive, my lady. I spent some time with the Warrior of Light so I assumed my reputation precedes me.
[He takes a moment of silent compilation trying not to waste too much time on the video feed. He should have thought out what to say before hitting play but...]
What I suppose to mean to say is I certainly didn't mind it. It sort of makes me feel a little bit like a hero myself. [He offers a soft laugh.] To fight side by side with the Warrior of Light until my own name is known... I'm quite proud! And though I do not know quite what you mean by your wording, that you're used to it, I sincerely hope all is well. You certainly did not offend me in the slightest.

I can help with the animals. We raise pigs and chickens on our farm and let the cows stay on the farm too. It's not apple bucking time yet so I won't need help with that either.

"We"? Do you have someone helping you already? I mean, I pitched it that way because I didn't want to end up indebted to someone indefinitely...

[…Yda may have some Feelings about all of that.]
I could probably help out! [Or, well, try to.] I don't know that much of animal husbandry, but I could learn!
[She tilts her head.] Well- I'm from Eorzea! I'm… well, I don't always get the latest news, but I can try to answer any questions you've got.
no subject
I somehow thought you of all people might agree. Thank you.
[That must seem totally bizarre. Maybe she ought to try and tone down the awkward presumptions a bit... Still, she can't help but smile a little bit.]
If you're also in need of help, perhaps we could pool our resources? It's easier than trying to tackle it alone.
As for my questions... ah, hells, I don't even know where to begin anymore. Mmm... how about we start with the last few things you remember of Eorzea, right before this fine mess?
no subject
Oh? Well- you're welcome! [Honestly, she doesn't think it's that big a secret, is it? Though- admittedly she's not familiar with this lady. She seems nice enough, though!]
I think that'd be good! I… well, it's still an adjustment!
Oh- yes, that seems reasonable. Let's see…. I was east of Baelsar's Wall, so I don't know how much you'll recognise- unless you've been that way, too? [It doesn't seem likely, but- you never know.] I'd been watching troop movements- nothing too much out of the ordinary around the Fringes, just the usual patrols- but there was definitely some activity rising around the Wall.

What do you want to ask?
[This would be easier if he was more comfortable with text.]

A lot of things, but it depends on who you are. Are you a Scion, to start with? Might I have your name?
no subject
No. I don't think I know what that is...
[His name is safe enough to give as long as he doesn't give the whole thing.]
And it's Cehd'ra. I missed getting yours.
